Fortescue Medalist 1949: Gerald Matthews

Reverend Gerald Matthews (42 -49 G)
Gerry Matthews joined West Buckland as a member of Grenville in September 1942, following in the steps of his brother Peter who was in Colin and Alvin’s year. He gained his School Certificate in 1945 and his Higher School Certificate in 1949, winning form prizes for five years in a row and the Innis French Form Prize in the Upper Sixth.

He was a member of the Phoenix Society, and Vice-President in 1948.
