Ross is currently in Canada so his mother Mika Clayton (nee Neve) (80-85F) who was previously Head Girl at WBS had the honour of receiving the award on his behalf. Here is what the Deputy Head Mr David Hymer had to say about Ross.

“Full commitment to three terms of school sport seems to be rarer in the pressurised world we live in. This winner has certainly participated in three terms in all his years at West Buckland, indeed he has achieved the distinction of obtaining full colours in rugby, cricket and hockey, a rare feat in any era.

He is unassuming, supremely reliable, and has a generosity of spirit equalled by few. He is the antithesis of brashness, a true gentleman, a West Bucklander who contributed to the community, as shown in his work with the younger sportsmen in the school. He was a prefect, a role model for the pupils, and respected wholeheartedly by all the staff.

His quiet, organised and diligent approach served him well academically. He achieved 3 A grades this summer and goes on to Durham University in 2016 where he will be studying biosciences.”
