Mr Alvin Mason (40 -45 C)

Alvin Mason joined West Buckland in September 1940. A member of Courtenay House, he was successful in gaining the School Certificate in 1942 and the Higher School Certificate in 1945. In addition to this he also received the Shephard Law Scholarship in 1942 and 1943. He was awarded prizes for general work in 1940 and 1942 and the Carter General Knowledge and Ackland Maths Prizes in the Sixth Form in 1944.

Alvin was a prefect and a member of the Phoenix Society and received his colours in tennis in 1944. He captained the tennis team in 1945 and was a Corporal in the Junior Training Corps.
