Is there a Doctor in the house? Last Friday night there was a plethora as we enjoyed our first Healthcare and Medical Professions Dinner. A host of alumni, students, parents, former parents, staff, former staff and guests from Pilton Community College gathered to enjoy some lively conversation and a delicious 3-course dinner, whilst being entertained and informed by a fantastic panel of speakers.
First to speak was Dr Ollie Shaw, GP with some key advice on applying to Med School. Rebecca Popplewell then regaled us with an insight into a day in the life of an Osteopath. Niall Hanson, HM Coastguard Winchman Paramedic, caught everyone's imagination with a dramatic recount of a rescue from a fishing vessel whilst Kay Maytum talked to us about her role as a specialist midwife, an adventure which is closer to home! Our final speaker of the evening was former Head of School Will Popplewell (01-10G) who spoke about his role as a Project Leader for a pharmaceutical company, as well as reminding us all that we should be enjoying what we do!
Thank you to MWE Medical Wire and JensonR+ whose generous sponsorship allowed the evening to go ahead.
