Masonic Lodge Report 2010

The school lodge has enjoyed another successful year.

The September meeting saw the installation of W. Bro Gavin Keegan (51-56C) as Master together with his Officers for the ensuing year.  At this meeting we were honoured by the presence of the Provincial Grand Master for Devonshire with many of his retinue.

This well attended meeting saw over seventy members and guests enjoy a good ceremony followed by a pleasant festive board in the Karslake Hall.

In November after the formal business meeting, guests and partners were invited into the Lodge to hear a talk on Women's Freemasonry given by the most senior member of the Order for Devonshire. It was interesting to hear about the charitable work their organisation does both in this country and beyond.  Many ladies and guests attended this presentation and the evening concluded with more than sixty sitting down for an excellent meal.

With Easter falling at the beginning of April our meeting was brought forward to the last Friday of March when we were treated to a most interesting and informative illustrated talk on Masonic Prisoners of War, given by W. Bro. John Withall , a friend of our W. Master.

As is normal the May meeting is for formal business at which the Master for the ensuing year is elected and next year the honour will be bestowed on James Mason, who until his recent retirement was a member of the School Foundation staff. The Lodge meets at the School four times a year on the first Friday of the month.

Membership is open to any (male) ex pupils, their fathers or close relatives, and members of staff. We are a charitable organisation which upholds the principles of Freemasonry.
