Good morning to our Alumni and friends of West Buckland School

STAY SAFE AND STAY IN TOUCH

The West Buckland Community has been navigating through the uncertainty of the Coronavirus outbreak and its implications, as all other communities have in recent weeks.  Members of our community are located across the globe and across age groups and we would like to let you know that we are here to support you.

Following Government advice, the School closed on Thursday 19th March (please see photo above of our Year 13s in their leavers hoodies) Our teaching staff continues to support the pupils in their learning using a new online platform and the School is running a skeleton staff to supervise a number of “vulnerable” and key workers’ children.

The Foundation and OWBA are here to support you in any manner we possibly can during the ever-changing situation we find ourselves in.

Our online presence will remain high across all social media platforms so please feel free to use these social media platforms to connect and interact.

Please do post memories and photos on the OWBA Facebook page and the OWBA website

  • Comment on other stories.
  • Use the OWBA site to network and
  • Renew old friendships.

Our shared experiences at this time will help us stay connected and positive.  If some of the technology is proving difficult to manage, please ask questions and we can help you.

At these times of self-isolation and social distancing we are keenly aware of the importance of staying in touch. We shall be taking the opportunity to phone those in our community who may be more isolated or vulnerable than others, to ensure all is well and to offer a friendly voice.

Please do inform us if you know of anyone who would appreciate this support, or if you would like to register for a call yourself.

In response to the uncertainty around the Coronavirus, along with government guidelines the Foundation and Development Office have decided to regrettably postpone or cancel our upcoming events, with the intention to run some of these at a later date when possible.

Until the time when we can all come together at future events, please be reassured that we are at the end of the phone or email and ready to support you in any way we can.

We trust you will stay safe.  As members of the West Buckland Community we are all part of an unique and supportive group who should take the time to stay connected and reach out to those in need. We shall weather the storm and come out on the other side, looking to the future with positivity.

With kind regards

Amanda and Monica
