As boarders at WBS both boys took advantage of the many outdoor activities the school had to offer. Keen members of the CCF and regular competitors in shooting competitions, their passion soon led to careers in the Armed Services.

After graduation from Exeter University, Matthew joined the Royal Marines and completed the arduous officers’ training course at the CTC at Lympstone earning his commission and ‘green beret’.

After four years, Matthew will be taking a break from his military career and, will soon be moving to New Zealand to take on the role of a ski instructor.

Whilst at UWE In Bristol, Peter joined the University Air Squadron gaining his PPL. Subsequently, he joined the RAF as an air traffic controller, attending Initial Officer Training at the RAF College Cranwell.

His ambition to be a pilot became all-consuming and he chose to leave the RAF and earn his Air Transport Pilot’s Licence. He qualified as a Commercial Pilot in 2016, joining Thomas Cook airlines, as a first officer. He is currently flying Boeing 757’s on short haul – and loving it!
