At the tender age of 21 Nick, at the height of the Cold War, less than three years after leaving WBS with a RAF Flying Scholarship, Nick became a Vulcan pilot. David Norfolk (60-67G), Mike Hannaford(56-64F) and Sam Wightman (57-63C) were hugely impressed with story of the bomber and the thought provoking experiences so ably relayed by Nick.

The whole experience was a salutary reminder of the duty, commitment and responsibility given by Nick and his fellow officers for whom at the time most of us gave little though.
Nick Adams, son of an RAF officer, had planned to be there but had to withdraw on the day and David MacMullen had visited just before.
