Lesley Hartley (89-13S)

Lesley has had a long and illustrious teaching career. She taught in Germany where her husband, Rupert was a Major in the Tank Regiment. After returning to England,we managed to lure her into the Prep School. She has taught Prep 6, for a quarter of a century.  As one pupil said, ‘She taught me all the English I needed to know, all the geography I needed to know, all the maths I needed to know...’ She has been a dedicated Director of Studies, run countless clubs and produced in excess of twenty tremendous Prep School productions, as well as participating in many bivvy-building trips to Clockhay and residential trips to France, Wales and various places in England.

Lesley has been a positive influence on hundreds of West Buckland pupils, past and present. She has been a wise counsellor and support to the staff and the Headmaster in the Prep School and, for twenty-five years, has been my ‘other half’.
