Mike Mike (Bill) Bowles (62-66G) served in the Royal Navy and then the British Army where he specialised in Port and Maritime Operations.

He retired in the rank of Colonel following which he worked as a consultant in management and security in the marine field in the UK, USA and South America. An experienced dinghy sailor and an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, he is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Companion of the Nautical Institute.

He now continues to work for Sail Training International as a Race Director for Tall Ships races.

Sail Training International fosters understanding across nations and cultures through providing sail training to young people around the world inspiring them to live a fulfilling life.

This year, Mike was in charge of a short race from Falmouth to Greenwich. Next year, he will be organising an event in the Baltic Sea in June from Klaipeda in Lithuania to Szczecin in Poland.

Perhaps a team from the OWBA on one of the ships would be an idea?

He is always looking for financial help to get under-privileged kids out sailing!
