OWBA Hockey 2016

1 Oct 2016
Hockey

On Saturday the 10th of September was the eagerly anticipated clash between the OWBA and the 1stXI Girls Hockey. With many returning students turning up to play, the 1stXI girls knew that they were in for a tough game.

The game started at a great pace with neither team able to take control. However mid way through the first half the OWBA took the lead with a well taken team goal. This spurred them on and they ended up going 2-0 up with a good strike from the top of the D. The 1stXI girls were able to pull one goal back before half time with Annabel Heath the scorer.

The 2nd half started with the OWBA scoring within the first few minutes. With the 1stXI girls trailing, they needed to find something special in order to contain the growing confidence of the OWBA Girls. They showed great spirit and pulled another goal back with Maddie Boyles scoring a well taken solo effort. With only minutes left of the game the 1stXI girls through everything at the OWBA girls and were rewarded with an equalising goal, Anabel Heath netting from close range. It was a great result for a well spirited and evenly contested match.

Lets hope for the same next year.
