Hockey |
On the 9th September, OWBA girls from the last 4 years travelled down to WBS to dust off their hockey sticks another time to play against the 1st XI.
Ranging from girls who played last week to girls who haven’t played in 2 years, we varied in experience, (and fitness!) but all pulled together to make a team. It was weird personally, as just last year, half of us had played for the school’s team!
The game started slowly, with the OWBA girls finding their feet and the 1st V! exploring their new tactics in the first game of the season. The first half ended in 0-0 and both sides were anxious to soon get a goal!
After a re-thinking of strategy, the OWBA came out in full force in the second half, achieving many goal attempts and short corners. A goal from the 1st XI dampened our spirits slightly, but within 10 minutes we had brought up the score to 1-1 with a brilliant goal from Georgia Cope, set up by Emma Cobby and Izzy Brown.
The game finished at a very fair 1-1 draw. It was a superb day that was enjoyed by all, and everyone expressed interest in playing for the OWBA for many years to come. Playing sport at WBS is always a brilliant thing to do, and being back on the pitch brought back wonderful memories for all.
