OWBA won the toss and asked West Buckland 1st XI to bat. 

The School's 1st XI were creative with their batting order, which gave Archie Tapsell a chance the bat at number 1.  This looks as though it was a great decision by the team, as Archie hit multiple boundaries within the first few overs, getting runs on the board early on in the innings.  He was then dismissed for 22, by an OWBA veteran, Bernie Wilson and his outstanding spin.  The 1st XI got to 50 runs within 6 overs which was an impressive start.  The runs continued to flood through the OWBA which saw the 1st XI achieve 100 runs off 11.4 overs, with a clean hitting 45 off 31 balls by Rohan Cross.  This led to a change in the bowling attack, with Joe Hastie bringing himself on for a quick fire 2 overs, only going for 2 runs.  More economic bowling from the other end, including a game changing caught and bowled by Bertie Wall which saw Cross dismissed.  The pressure started to rise on the school team who were looking to set an impressive target. The 1st XI went from 116/4 to 121/7.  With Matt Robinson and Pete Davies finishing the final 4 overs, the OWBA were set a target of 141 to win. 

The OWBA started off strongly, building up to 37 before losing their first wicket.  The 50 came up after 8.1 overs but with wicket in hand, the OWBA were confident.  The big wicket of Matt Robinson was eventually taken for 41 by Ed Wilson with a remarkable catch from Luke Stapleton.  The OWBA got to 89/4 with a great display of batting by Connor Norden, scoring 17.  Chester Williams and Bertie Wall spent a short while batting together for the first time since 2015 but unfortunately Navindu's bowling prevented the chance of a potential partnership.  Once the OWBA side were 5 wickets down, the school 1st XI were feeling confident again.  After taking the 5th wicket, the 1st team coach Joe Hastie came to the crease.  Runs came steadily and a small partnership began to build.  Then 3 overs remained and 30 runs were still required, creating a tense ending.  Some sensible batting from Sam Carr and Joe Hastie got the OWBA side back into the picture, needing 7 off the final over.  Two boundaries in 2 balls finished the game with the OWBA being victorious. 

A special mention must go to the scorer, Mr Wilson, the father of Ed who was a great help for the day, Baz the groundsman and to the umpire, Angus Calder who covered both ends of the wicket.  Cricket can't be played without them all, so thank you.
