We are sad to announce the death of our beloved Anne Featherstone after a courageous battle with Cancer, she passed away on February 8th 2022. The loving wife of Anthony, cherished daughter of Ivan and Dorothy, the bighearted mother of Daniel, Thomas, Peter, Michael and four beautiful daughters in law. The doting grandmother of eleven wonderful grandchildren and the tender friend to countless people she took under her wing.
Anne’s unsparing generosity and joy for life will live on in the hearts of all of us. Anne’s compassion was evidenced in her choice of profession – a physiotherapist since 1975 – and renowned by her friends and patients alike for her good advice, welcoming nature, and strength. Anne believed that the first Physio session with a patient was less about the Physio, and more about helping to heal the emotional and psychological wounds that come with long term injuries. Holistic by nature, she could effortlessly get to the route of a patient’s problem.
Anne loved nature, wild flowers and trees. A walk in the countryside alongside her could take much longer than anticipated while she stopped to look at every butterfly, or paused to listen to the call of every bird.
Her enthusiasm for good food, cooking and feeding people is a passion she passed on to her sons. Anne could look into a seemingly bare cupboard and magically create a three course meal, rich and delicious, and bursting with flavour. She cooked and served her food to anyone who came to the house – there was always another place at her table, where food was served with warmth, generosity, and love.
We would like to remember Anne the way she was before her illness - a giant Gin & Tonic (just a very small dash of tonic please) in one hand, enormous curly hair which could be spotted in any crowd, bangles jingling on her arm, and tears of laughter at an inside joke – she had an uncanny ability to build a plethora of inside-jokes about everyday events with even the unlikeliest of people, and won their hearts in the process.
The funeral will be held on the 3rd of March, and split into three parts. Everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate her life at any and all parts of the day if they wish.
