Dear all,

I am sure you have all heard the sad news that ~ William George Witheridge ~George ~ died peacefully at home after a long illness incredibly bravely born.

Dearest husband of Pat and brother to Joyce and Marion.

Much loved father of Sarah and John, father-in-law to Simon and Jan and proud grandfather of Joe, Sam, Charlie, Ted, and Meredith.

A true Exmoor gentleman and lifelong member of the DSSH.

The Witheridge family would like to extend a very warm invitation to all those who knew George, to attend a Celebration of George’s life.

The celebration will be held in Break Field Middle Stoodleigh Farm at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday the 30th of June 2021.

There will be a short service followed by the traditional send off by Mr Peter Heard the DSSH Huntsman.

The retiring collection to be shared between the Devon Air Ambulance and St Peter’s Church West Buckland.

Following the service, refreshments will be provided by the family.

It was George’s wish that you should give him a rousing send off, take a moment to appreciate the wonderful part of the world in which we live and all the joys of country life.

He was very keen that you should all ‘eat, drink and be merry!’ So come prepared!

Please, BRING A CHAIR      Dress code; smart and comfortable.

*There will be a paid bar run by the DSSH Young Supporters Club with all proceeds going to the Hunt.

It would be very helpful if those attending could email [email protected] by Friday the 25th of June and in the subject line of the email please state family name and number of attendees – i.e.  Gerald Burrough + 4

Thank you so much to the hundreds of people who have sent cards and letters full of very kind words about George. We have really enjoyed reading your memories and anecdotes.

The whole family are really looking forward to a memorable afternoon and evening.

Warmest regards,

John Witheridge and family
