While there were analogue CCTV systems to help farmers monitor livestock, especially during the calving and lambing season, Jake realised there was a need for better quality equipment. He started developing his own wireless enabled internet system.

Challenges encountered included bypassing distributors demanding minimum order of 5,000 cameras to deal direct with Chinese manufacturers and specify his required modifications.  The result is AgriCamera.

Farmers can choose from a range of cameras, from static to 360-view and zoom that have a wi-fi connection to their router.  They can tap into the AgriCamera dashboard from any internet-enabled device (smartphone, tablet or PC) and view their livestock 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Jake’s AgriCamera team attended the Livestock show at the NEC and was overwhelmed by the level of interest.  The team is now gearing up for high demand during the calving and lambing season from October to March.

Jake is working on extending AgriCamera for horse businesses to monitor foaling, on developing further security systems, and on a project that takes wi-fi to the great outdoors.  For details visit www.agricamera.co.uk
