A well-known North Devon Estate Agency has been instrumental in providing Katie May (02-12 B) with some worthwhile work experience over the summer.  Katie, who has completed two years of her degree in biological sciences at Exeter University wasted no time in getting into the workplace during her holidays.

Based in the Property Management Hub for a month, Katie helped with the Webbers’ website news feeds and social media, while in August, she was based in the Torrington residential sales office.  The Chairman of Webbers, Graham Harrison (59-66 C) and Property Consultant, Kevin Underwood (72-74 C), both former pupils of West Buckland clearly recognised a familiar characteristic in Katie. Kevin concluded, “Webbers has always thrived on youthful enterprise and we know that with the right person we can develop their skills.  We have decided that we will look at this in a more structured way next year and, if successful, it could become an annual opportunity.”

Although perhaps not directly linked to her degree, Katie found working at Webbers reinforced the importance of effective time management which will benefit her when balancing biology modules, her dissertation and training for netball five times a week!
